Choosing the Best CBD Tea for You
CBD tea is one of the best ways to use cannabis, and for good reason. So what’s the best CBD tea? And what do you need to know when shopping for the right one?
Unlike extracts or oils that may use chemical-heavy extraction processes, high-quality CBD tea is available in whole-plant form. True, some teas will use a broad or full spectrum oil (or even isolate), but generally those teas will be weaker, not as effective at delivering CBD to your body, and completely lacking the amazing characteristics of cannabis.
It’s one of the reasons we only use full flower, whole-plant tea at The Apothecary (shameless plug incoming).
When you use full flower, you retain the phytonutrients, terpenes, minor cannabinoids, and unique constituents in the cannabis plant. Extracts and isolates are just that — extracts! They’re only a portion of what you start with. Why sacrifice quality if you’re using a tea for wellness?
Choose your CBD Wisely
The next thing to keep in mind is bioavailability.
Bioavailability essentially translates to ‘how well CBD enters your system.’ This is important because CBD is not naturally water soluble, and won’t bind to water. For your body to properly absorb CBD during ingestion, you want the molecule accompanied by lipids (fats). This gives your body a better chance at absorption.
A simple test is to ask, “what’s the fat content of this tea?”
Unfortunately, most teas available don’t use any type of bioavailability delivery system. Essentially, it’s an extract or isolate sprinkled or otherwise applied in tea. This often doesn’t work as well, as the natural oils found in tea just aren’t abundant enough to work as a carrier for CBD.
In contrast, we use a proprietary formula developed over the last 5 years — a fat matrix that’s stable, binds to CBD, and ensures CBD is actually making it into your system. This uses organic ingredients from small farms, based on three ingredients: Yuca Root, Tapioca, and Coconut.
This, plus the fact that Brothers Apothecary teas include on average 4-5x more CBD than others (sometimes 10x, with up to 60-70mg per bag with the Brothers), makes the choice simple.
Best CBD Tea for Sleep: Golden Dream Chamomile CBD Tea
First up is our favorite CBD tea for sleep. While CBD itself isn’t a sedative, it does help the body and mind reach homeostasis. When you’re at a level place in mind, sleep and rest is SO much easier.
Golden Dream is a CBD chamomile tea by The Apothecary. It uses powerful herbs in tandem with CBD to inspire better rest, including Chamomile, Hawthorne Berry, and Linden Leaf. It also adds crazy delicious flavors, including spearmint, orange peel, and lemongrass. This is hands down one of the best tasting tea varieties (in our opinion).
If you’re looking for help with sleep, Golden Dream is a great place to start.
Best CBD Tea for Meditation: Buddha’s Berry CBD Green Tea
How about meditation or focused rest?
Meditation is a great addition to your daily wellness routine. To us, meditation doesn’t mean you meditate on something — it’s more of a conscious quieting of the mind that inspires a new sense of mental clarity. It’s a polishing in a sense, but also a reflective, non-action.
Buddha’s Berry is an ideal CBD tea for this.
With Spring Green tea + three types of Indian Tulsi (Rama, Vana, and Khrisna), this tea is all about centering. It’s lightly caffeinated, providing a slight boost to your mental acuity.
Best CBD Tea for Energy: Chai Awakening CBD Chai Tea
Sometimes you reach for a cup of tea for energy. While many American’s don’t use tea for this (coffee is much more consumed), it’s not true for the rest of the world. Just look at our friends across the pond. Breakfast Tea in Ireland or the UK is the morning equivalent!
And in that, we want to look for strong, black tea.
Enter Chai Awakening.
This semi-sweet, semi-spicy blend of black tea & herbs is a great way to wake up your mind, fueling your focus throughout the day. Remember, CBD itself isn’t a sedative, so when you combine caffeinated tea, you’re going to feel energy + centered wellness. This can actually improve your stamina and help you put that energy to work.
Best CBD Tea for Upset Stomach: Mellow Mint CBD Mint Tea
Personally, stomach pains and aches are probably the most irritating issues to deal with, especially when you’re working. The gnawing, shooting sensation of a stomach ache is almost impossible to ignore.
Mint is a fantastic solution for stomach aches, and it’s been used for centuries.
Mellow Mint leverages this benefit and adds CBD to the mix.
Combining the soothing, calming nature of peppermint and spearmint, Mellow Mint helps settle the stomach, relieving occasional aches and pains. It’s a great tea to reach for after a heavy (or spicy) meal, and tastes delicious.
Which CBD tea do you want to see next?
Finding a great CBD tea doesn’t need to take a lot of work. Because of tea’s vast and storied use and history (potentially as the first form of medicine), all you need to do is look for the right combination of herbs. It’s nearly guaranteed that a healthy, delicious herbal concoction has already been thought up for you!
