The Classic Penicillin Cocktail
It’s the cure for what ails ya. Created back in 2005 by New York bartender Sam Ross, this heady concoction of scotch, honey-ginger syrup and fresh lemon juice is a verified panacea. Think of the Penicillin Cocktail as a deliciously smokey, chilled cousin to the hot toddy. At once peaty, sweet and complex, this cocktail is new classic. With an extra dose of CBD courtesy of Brothers Wild Rosin CBD Honey, the Penicillin Cocktail might just be in line for a Nobel Prize in Medicine.*
The Buzz About Honey
In addition to tasting great, raw honey is an amazing source of antioxidants and has natural antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. Honey actually naturally contains the antiseptic agent hydrogen peroxide. Raw honey is also chock full of phytonutrients, which are derived from plants and contain their own antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. Honey can help soothe a sore throat and quiet a noisy cough. Finally, honey can also soothe digestive issues from ulcers to upset tummies. On a mixology note, honey’s sweetness perfectly balances out the tartness of the lemon and the ginger’s spice, rounding out the cocktail’s flavor profile.*
Ginger & Lemon – A Timeless Remedy
There’s a reason your mom always gave you lemon and ginger tea when you were feeling under the weather. Spicy and aromatic, fresh ginger root is a natural anti-inflammatory. The gingerols and shaogals in ginger root soothe sore throats, and they also kill rhinoviruses – the virus that causes colds in the first place. Ginger is also helpful for settling upset stomachs, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and cold sweats. Lemon is high in Vitamin C, which boosts the immune system and neutralizes free radicals. It’s also helpful for reducing inflammation and swelling.*
Health Benefits of CBD
CBD is the non-psychoactive compound naturally found in the cannabis plant. CBD can’t get you high. Instead, when ingested, CBD gets to work on your body’s endocannabinoid system. Our body’s endocannabinoid system is in charge of regulating sleep patterns, appetite and general mood. Our bodies already produce cannabinoids in its regulation of emotion and sleep – ingesting CBD can trigger the release of more. CBD works with your body to calm anxiety, boost mood, soothe pain, decrease inflammation and even help you get a better night’s sleep. There’s a reason CBD has gotten a reputation for an all-natural panacea.*
