You Deserve a CBD Spa Day
Stress is unhealthy. It has a huge impact on not only your physical wellbeing, but also your mental wellbeing. With a culture that breeds anxiety, heightened by uncontrollable variables like pandemics and isolation, it is more important than ever to tend to your mental as well as your physical health. A great to do this is with a CBD spa day.
The reason is simple: If stress is the negative, relaxation is the positive.
Relaxation, in many forms, is healthy for your mind and body. Relaxed states, as opposed to those with elevated stress levels, may be associated blood pressure, reduced muscle tension, and a better pain response. Relaxation will help you feel better, improve your response to challenging situations, and even will affect those around you in a positive way.
Since the spas are closed (and hey, often too expensive anyway) here’s our recipe for the perfect stay at home CBD spa day.
Step One: Create a Sanctuary (& Enable Yourself to Relax)
First things first: cleanse your space and get rid of all of the negative energy.
- We suggest either burning some sage or palo santo. The act of burning sage and setting out stones helps you to set the intention of relaxing.
- Get out those crystals, amethyst can help to relax your mind and bring clarity. Celestite helps get rid of chaotic thoughts and clears up your head space. Fluorite helps with balance and clarity.
- Prep your cup of tea and water. We suggest brewing a cup of Mellow Mint. It helps with soothing the stomach and refreshing the senses.
During this time, it’s also critically important to stay hydrated. Dehydration is rampant (seriously, when’s the last time you drank roughly 16 cups of water, or 3.7 liters)? Make sure you have water within reach all day at the spa. It‘s important to continually rehydrate yourself while soaking, stretching, meditating, and energizing your skin.
Note: If you’ve got family, roommates or others at home, make it clear that you’re departing for the next few hours. This time will be yours and you deserve the privacy of your space.
Step Two: Draw a Bath
We suggest using our Slumbering CBD Bath Soak for your bath. There’s a few reasons. First, the calming scent of lavender will work to relax the body and mind. Next, the provitamins, zinc, and CBD help nourish and soothe your skin. This bath soak (unlike salts or artificially colored bombs) will leave you feeling smoother than you’ve felt in a LONG time. It light, calming, and encompasses the body in a warm embrace.
Tips:
- We also suggest playing for soothing tunes. We’ve even made a playlist that will help you relax. Check it out on Spotify by clicking here.
- Take sips of your tea, deeply inhaling the peppermint. This will help your mind relax. Focus on the taste if quieting the mind is difficult.
- Remember to drink water.
Step Two (b): The Shower Alternative
Bath time not your thing?
That’s okay. You can still build a ritual around bathing for your CBD spa day.
First, complete your shower basics. When ready, use an energizing body scrub (after all body washes and their rinses). We suggest our Energizing Earl Grey CBD Body Scrub, an exfoliating, refreshing mix of Earl Grey, hydrating oils, and CBD. Gently rubbing in a circular motion, work your way around your body, focusing on both tension spots and spots that tend to dry out or need extra skin moisturizers. The scrub will buff away dead skin cells while embedding gentle, dry oils that hydrate skin without oily residue or gritty feelings.
After a light rinse, your skin should still feel some of the scrub, leaving a smooth, hydrated appearance that isn’t oily.
Lightly pat yourself dry. Ideally, at this point your bathroom will have a nice steam level. Don’t let that out! Deeply breathe in the steam, settling yourself (either seated or standing). Allow your skin time to breathe, intake moisture, and appreciate the attention provided.
Step Three: Soothe Your Skin
Once out of the bath or shower, it is important to re-hydrate and soothe your skin. For a light, non-greasy feel, try out Green Tea CBD Body Butter for your body and our Rosehip Facial Cream as your face moisturizer. These moisturizers are infused with some of our favorite herbs and teas, combining the benefits with other ingredients jojoba, white willow, aloe, and neem.
Even though you may feel soft, moisturizing after bathing is very important because it helps to retain those treatments, while adding additional skin-loving benefits.
Step Four: Deep Breathing & Meditation
After applying the Body Butter, the next step to ultimate relaxation is deep breathing and meditation.
Meditation means a lot of things to different people. The way we like to describe is that it isn’t a verb. There isn’t an action to meditate. You don’t meditate on something, such as a challenge of life. Instead, it’s a settling, quieting practice. Silence of the mind is the goal, and it’s okay that it isn’t an easy one.
Practice by minimizing your focus.
Feel the steam around you, or, if you meditate better in your room or quiet place, focus on the remaining mint scents from your tea. Focus on your breathing. Feel the slow rhythm of breathing in, then out. Don’t force your breath, just observe it.
When your mind begins to wander, refocus on those elements that stand out – the humidity, the scent, the breathing.
Sometimes, some light music can help. Check out our mediation playlist, here.
You can also apply your favorite essential oil to help use a scent for focus (we suggest Unwind).
Remember, meditation isn’t a skill that you master to ascend to some higher plane. It doesn’t require forced effort. Just give yourself some quiet, and choose to center yourself with your body on your terms.
Schedule Your CBD Spa Day
While there won’t be any spa attendants or boutique pool-side service, it’s important to take time out of the week to relax your mind and body.
Life is really stressful and it can be out of this world busy. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed by that, acknowledge it, and give yourself time to move away from the anxiety and stress it brings. Self-care is a privilege that we have to allow ourselves.
While we’d suggest you take a CBD spa day everyday, even if it’s only once a month, it’s important to check in with yourself. When would you like to schedule your time?
