Vegan CBD Chai Awakening Ice Cream
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of coconut milk
- 2 cups of coconut cream
- 1/4 cup condensed coconut milk
- 3 TBSP of Cacao Butter
- 3 TSP of Vanilla Extract
- 3 TBSP of Sugar
- 3 Bags of Chai Awakening
Instructions:
• 1. Place your churning bowl in the freezer 12-24 prior to making the ice cream, or follow the instructions for your ice cream machine.
• 2. Using a mortar and pestle, grind the your Chai Awakening tea into a powder, this will allow the fragrance to come out of the tea.
• 3. In a deep sauce pan, I used this one, combine milk, cream, condensed milk and cacao butter. Cook on a low/medium heat until combined. Be careful to make sure it doesn't boil, a boil with caramelize the condensed milk, while the flavor is yummy, it's not what we are going for with this recipe.
• 4. After the cream mixture has been combining and cooking for about 10 minutes, add your chai. This process is super important, because you will want to fully infuse your cream mixture. Let this cook on a low/medium heat for 30-45 minutes. 5. Stir occasionally and don't allow it to boil. You will know all of the tea is infused when the cream mixture is a light/medium tan color.
• 6. While still on the heat, add in sugar and vanilla extract. Stir and then let sit for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let rest for 10-15 minutes.
• 7. Using a mesh strainer (like this one) and a medium heat safe bowl, separate the tea mixture from the cream. Some black tea leaves will escape through the strainer, but that's okay!
• 8. Allow cream mixture to chill in the fridge for 4-6 hours, overnight is great too.
• 9. Using your churning bowl, and follow the manufactures instructions on the perfect ice cream. I have this one . The churning processes takes anywhere from 30-40 minutes. Once it mimics the consistency of frozen yogurt or ice cream, you are good to go. Using a freezer safe container, I use these ones. Let the ice cream set for about 4-6 hours, overnight is great too.
• 10. Serve and Enjoy!

What We Love About Chai
Chai is a fragrant and spicy tea that support optimal heart health, blood sugar levels, and digestion. With a mild yet pointed taste, this cuts through heavy meals left on the palate, making this CBD ice cream perfect as an after dinner treat.
Our Secret: What is Cacao Butter
Cacao Butter is the unprocessed fat extracted from cocoa beans. It is packed with antioxidants, fats, and nutrients. Because the nutrients aren’t killed off by heat, like normal cocoa butter, it can have a positive affect on the immune system, as well. There is no butter or dairy in Cacao Butter, and it doesn’t have a particularly buttery flavor.
For us, it also provides an impressive way to make our CBD ice cream smooth and creamy.
(Ps. Cacao Butter is not only really good to eat, but it’s also great for the skin as well. It melts at body temperature, so it is an amazing moisturizer and is great for massage!)
